In this incident, a fuel depot blew up north of London, severely damaging houses and an industrial estate, but fortunately without loss of life. If the fueltanks in the centre of Stornoway blew up - well, doesn't bear thinking about.
Tropical cyclone Gula is causing concern in Mauritius. Although it isn't due for another 3 days, I have already had 400 hits on my TC blog in the last 16 hours alone. Last year, TC Gamede attracted thousands of hits on my old, AOL-based, TC blog.

I remember Buncefield for several reasons Guido. We heard the explosion even though we are several counties away. Also it could have affeccted Jim`s job as he is an aircraft refueller. Mainly though it was pure luck, if you could call it that, that it happened when it did. If it happened on a week day God only knows how much more of a disaster it would have been. These places are necessary but surely they can be built away from human habitation.

It's considerably nicer here than there right now. It went up to 60 today. What a tremendous number of hits on your TC blog! I hope they relocate the LPG delivery point to the harbor down the coast. Too much risk right in town like that. Hopefully it won't take years to do it.

Wow, that looks like the explosion we had here in town a few months back, when the propane truck and tanks blew up. Happy to hear no one was killed. Linda in Washington state

Hubby delivered LPG for many years. You would not believe the courses he had to do and also when he moved on to petrol
